Spice up your boot-loader with BURG

If you dual boot windows and linux, you are definitely familiar with GRUB, the default boot-loader that comes with most of linux distributions . There are some of us who are pretty happy with the default minimal menu with absolutely no graphics. But for those of us, who like to have every aspect of the operating system customized as per their aesthetic requirements, the bootloader definitely needs a bit of cheese topping. But then, there are again some of us,who shy away from myriad configuration files and would rather not mess with the cryptic menu.ls of .cfg files for configuring grub. It is here, that BURG comes to rescue. So what is BURG? Quoting from the project site :

burg is a brand-new boot loader based on GRUB. It uses a new object format which allows it to be built in a wider range of OS, including Linux/Windows/OSX/Solaris/FreeBSD, etc. It also has a highly configurable menu system which works in both text and graphic mode.

What that means is that it provides a casual user with fantastic ways to theme up the boot-loader screen with absolutely no hassle and you end up with really glossy themed startup page with no messing with command line. The default selection of themes is good and you can always unleash your creativity and create your own.

Installation :
Installation is ridiculously simple in ubuntu/debian. But other users might have to compile from the sources. The exact platform-specific instructions are found here .
