Tata DOCOMO is offering a Mobile TV plan to their 3G customers. Watching television on a mobile device is not something that has caught on widely.
But I imagine some people would have a use for it.
The service offered by Tata DOCOMO is not very cost efficient. The subscription itself is pretty cheap. You pay 10 bucks for one channel for 10 minutes of access (for testing out the service I imagine). And you can pay Rs. 100 for access to around 50 channels with no limits.
The problem is that the company is going to charge you 1 paisa per KB of data usage. The company has not given any estimates on how much data is consumed on their Mobile TV platform. But one thing is clear, it would not be very cheap to use it to frequently watch television on your phone.
The other thing that is not clear is that they are offering a customized mobile application for this service. You download the app from their mobile site. What mobile platforms are supported with this app?
